Read the passage given below and answer the questions that follow:
Papaya is the healthiest fruit with a list of properties that is long and exhaustive. Papaya favours digestion as well as cures skin irritation and sunburns.  You can munch on it as a salad, have it cooked or boiled or just drink it up as milkshake or juice.  The most important of these virtues is the protein – digesting enzyme in the milky juice or late.  The enzyme is similar to pepsin in its digestive action and is said to be so powerful that it can digest 200 times its own weight in protein.  It assists the body in assimilating the maximum nutritional value from food to provide energy and body – building materials.
Papain in raw papaya makes up for the deficiency of gastric juice and fights excess of unhealthy mucus in the stomach, dyspepsia and intestinal irritation.   The ripe fruit, if eaten regularly, corrects habitant constipation, bleeding piles and chromic diarrhea.
The juice, used as a cosmetic, removes freckles or brown spots due to exposure to sunlight and makes the skin smooth and delicate.  A paste of papaya seeds is applied in skin diseases like those caused by ringworm.  The black seeds of the papaya are highly beneficial in the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver caused by malnutrition, alcoholism etc.
A table spoon of its juice, combined with a hint of fresh lime juice, should be taken once or twice daily for a month.  The fresh juice of raw papaya mixed with honey can be applied over inflamed tonsils, for diphtheria and other throat disorders.  It dissolves the membrane and prevents infection from spreading. The nutrients in papaya have also been shown to be helpful in the prevention of colon cancer. Papaya's fiber is able to control to cancer-causing toxins in the colon and keep them away from the healthy colon cells. In addition, papaya's folate, vitamin C, beta-carotene, and vitamin E have each been associated with a reduced risk of colon cancer. These nutrients provide synergistic protection for colon cells from free radical damage to their DNA. Increasing your intake of these nutrients by enjoying papaya is an especially good idea for individuals at risk of colon cancer.

A daily dose of sunshine, along with a diet that comprises only fish: mackerel, sardines trout of omega three fatty acids boosts brain power.  Vegetarians can have their pick of a fistful of seeds such as sesame, sunflower, pumpkin or eight to ten walnuts.

As haemoglobin in the blood helps carry oxygen to cells, including those in the brain, mild iron deficiency, caused by low haemoglobin, too slows thinking and remembering processes.  Anaemia or low haemoglobin is three times more common in vegetarians than meat eaters.  Vegetarians must ensure their meals include some amount of almonds, dried apricots, broccoli, dates, peas or spinach.  Avoid fried and processed foods that are high in calories but low in nutrients.  It’s also vital to keep the heart pumping hard, as about 20 per cent of the blood from the heart goes to the brain.  Anything that impedes blood flow can effect clear thinking and cause forgetfulness.  Some form of brisk physical activity for thirty minutes, at least three to five times a week, is also a must.

1
Read the passage given below and answer the questions / complete the sentences that follow:
A chimpanzee is one of the great apes and the nearest in intelligence to man.  Scientists have examined its mental capacities and sent it into space in anticipation of man.  Chimpanzees need little description.  Being apes and not monkeys, they have no tails.  Their arms are longer that their legs and they normally run on all fours.  They can also walk upright with toes turned outwards.  When erect they stand 3-5 ft high.  The hair is long and coarse, black except for a white patch near the rump.  The face, ears hands and feet are bared and except for the black face, the flesh is coloured.
Chimpanzees exhibit great concern for each other.  When chimpanzees meet after having been apart they greet each other in a very human way by touching each other or even clasping hands.  Chimpanzees have amazing social discipline.  When a dominant male arrives, the rest of the chimpanzees hurry to pay respect to it.  The dominant male is not allowed to wrest food from his inferiors.  The members of a party also spend considerable amount of time grooming each other and themselves.  Mothers go through the fur of their babies for any foreign particles, dirt, and ticks and they aid each other when they are injured.
Chimpanzees are the best tools users apart from man.  Sticks 2-3 ft long are picked off the ground or broken from branches and pushed into nests, then withdrawn and the honey or insects licked off.  Stones are used to crack nuts or as missiles to drive humans and baboons away from its food.  Chimpanzees are not only tool users but also toolmakers.  They make their own rods by stripping the leaves off a twig or tear shreds off a grass stem.  Baby chimpanzees learn all this by observing the older chimpanzees making and using them.  So man is not the only toolmaker, merely better at it than his relatives.
(a)        Chimpanzees are as __________ as men.
(b)        Chimpanzees greet each other by __________ each other
(c)        Like man, chimpanzees are __________.
(d)       Chimpanzees __________ tails.

Justin was always prepared.  His motto was, “Never throw anything out; you never know when it might come in handy. “His bedroom was full of bent tennis rackets, deflated basketballs, and games with missing pieces.  His parents pleaded with him to clean out his room.
"What use is a fish tank with a hole in the bottom?" his father asked. But Justin simply smiled and repeated his motto, "Never throw anything out, you never know when it might come in handy."  When Justin was away from home, he always carried his blue backpack. He liked to think of it as a smaller version of his bedroom—a place to store the many objects that he collected. It was so worn and stretched that it hardly resembled a backpack anymore. It was full of the kind of things that seemed unimportant, but when used with a little imagination, might come in handy. Justin had earned a reputation for figuring things out and getting people out of otherwise hopeless situations. Many of his classmates and neighbours sought him out when they needed help with a problem. On the first day of school, his friend Kenny, came looking for Justin. "Do you think you have something in your bag that could help me remember my locker combination?" he asked. "I lost the scrap of paper it was written on. I have science class in two minutes and if I’m late on the first day it’ll make me look bad for the rest of the year." Kenny looked genuinely worried. ."Relax," Justin said, taking his backpack off and unzipping the top. "Remember how you borrowed my notebook in homeroom to write the combination down? Well, I know how we can recover what you wrote." He took the notebook and a soft lead pencil out of his bag. The page that Kenny had written on had left faint indentations on another page in the notebook. Justin held the pencil on its side and rubbed it lightly over the indentations. Slowly but surely the numbers of the locker combination appeared in white, set off by the grey pencil rubbings.
(a)   Why Justin’s bedroom was in a messy condition?
